What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is really an amazing creation in the field of technology. It is used to transfer any kind of data like voice, images and multimedia files (audio, video, mp3, mp4 etc.) over a short distance. It is known as an open wireless technology which is now commonly in uses with most of the technology giants being a necessary part of their accessories in which mobile companies are most common.

Bluetooth actually uses radio transmissions of short wavelength to transmit date from one device to another device and thus a PAN is being created between these two devices. PAN stands for personal area networks. One best feature of this technology is that it transmits data with high level of security. Ericsson is known as the creator of this open wireless technology form.

Bluetooth was created in year 1994. Originally it was designed as a replacement of RS-232 which is widely known as data cable. It can make a connection with more than one device simultaneously which really solved a lot of connection problems. “Bluetooth Special Interest Group” is the organization which is currently responsible to handle this unique open wireless technology.

A radio technology which is known as “frequency-hopping spread spectrum” is being used by Bluetooth to transmit data between devices and data can be transmitted up to maximum of 1 MHz’s 79 bands. Approximately seven devices can be connected through the master Bluetooth device within one user group of wireless. This type of user group is named as “piconet”. The roles of these devices can be changed at anytime within the same user group.

Bluetooth is widely available in several products around the globe in which most common are Lego Mindstorms NXT, PSP Go, iPod Touch, PlayStation 3 and Wii. It is also made available in headsets, moderns and watches.

Computer tips - Computer energy saving

Not only is your electricity bill going up with your computer use, you are using more energy than you should and that in turn effects the world. Often we don't think about what effects that our computers have on the environment, but the truth is that they use a lot of energy. There are things that you can do to conserve energy though. Save money on your bill and make a difference in the world, what could be better than that?

Upgrade.
While it isn't always possible, getting a new computer is a good way to save energy on your computer use. This is especially true if you have an older monitor. You want to get a better processor and upgrade your monitor at least. If you are wanting to save a lot of energy in your upgrade consider a laptop or a Mac. Both use less energy. Another thing that you can look for if you are looking to buy a whole new system that is put together for you is an Energy Star efficient computer. While fairly new to the market you can get the Energy Star of approval which is only given to the top 25% of computers that are ranked from lowest to highest according to energy used.

*Don't just throw your old computer, monitor, or parts away. Instead find someone who will be able to use them or recycle them. There are always people who would love to be able to have a computer (any computer) and they will be glad to take yours or those that build computers from parts who will reuse your parts.

Set to sleep.
Whether you call it sleeping, hibernating, or going into stand by mode, you will want to set your computer to do this. This will decrease the amount of energy that your computer uses to nearly nothing. Give it a few minutes and after a short period of time it should sleep while you are away.
Don't be afraid to turn it off.

Many people believe that turning off the computer too much will damage it. This isn't true and you can turn it off several times a day if need be. This will save energy and if you are going to be gone a little while. When you turn your computer off make sure that you also turn of your speakers, your monitor, and other electronics hooked up to your computers. While they don't use a lot of energy, they do use some even when the computer if off. One easy suggestion to use if you have a lot of electronics is to plug everything into a power strip so that you can turn off the power strip and turn off everything in one easy move.

Your computer is using energy when you turn it on. It uses more energy when you do more things with it. It is a good idea to close windows and applications when you are done using them, to make sure that you are working with the best machine you can, to use the computers energy saving settings, and to turn it off when you aren't using it. These things will lower your energy bill and help save the world!

Computer Tips - Hide control panel

The best way to make it clear you don't want people poking around your computer is to block their access to the Control Panel.

The Control Panel is the portal to the operating system’s options and settings. By hiding it from the other users you can be assured that your computer will remain exactly how you configured it.

You can accomplish this easily in Windows XP, Vista and 7 with a simple Registry modification.

Warning! Before we go any further, I'd like to point out that messing around with the Windows Registry is not meant for beginners. Editing the Registry directly can have serious, unexpected consequences that can prevent the system from starting and require that you reinstall Windows. If you feel you do not understand or are unable to perform the steps below, please seek expert advice.
In addition, I recommend backing up the Registry before attempting any modification.

To back up the entire Registry in any Windows version, open the Registry Editor (see instructions below), click on the My Computer (or Computer for Vista and 7) key at the top and select File in the top left corner of the window. In the File menu select Export…, give it a name like registry backup and choose a safe location to save your file.

If something does go wrong while editing, you can restore the Registry by navigating to where you saved the .reg file and simply double-click on it.

Now that you have backed up the Registry, we can proceed with the rest of the article.

To change a Registry setting we must first open the Registry Editor.

Go to the Start Menu and click on the Run command, situated above the Turn off Computer button. Then type the command regedit in the Open box and click the OK button.

To access the Registry in Windows Vista and Windows 7 you must log in with an administrator account.

Alternatively, type regedit in the search bar of the start menu, right-click on regedit.exe and select Run as administrator.

The Registry Editor will now open.

The setting we need to change is located in the Registry structure, at the following address:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Click the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and scroll down the list until you locate Software.

Then click the plus sign next to Software and look for Microsoft.

Then click the plus sign next to Microsoft and look for Windows.

Then click the plus sign next to Windows and look for CurrentVersion.

Then click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion and look for Explorer.

Finally, click the plus sign next to Explorer and left-click on Advanced.

With the Advanced key selected, right-click on an empty spot on the right side of the Registry Editor window.

Click New, and from the menu, select and click on DWORD Value.
If you have Windows Vista or 7, click on DWORD Value (32-bit).
Then, type Start_ShowControlPanel and press Enter from the keyboard.

Next, right-click on the Start_ShowControlPanel value and from the menu select Modify.

Under the Value Data field, type 0 (zero) and click OK.

Now, close the Registry Editor by clicking File, then Exit from the menu, and restart your computer.

After the restart, if you look under the Start menu, you will not see the Control Panel entry anymore.

Of course, you can always bring back the Control Panel if you want to make a change or remove a program.

Just follow the steps above until you reach the Start_ShowControlPanel value, double-click it and change the Value Data field to a 1 (or just delete the value).

Note: The Control Panel is not removed or uninstalled from your computer, it is only hidden. Therefore, any user that has administrator rights and knows where the Registry entry is located can make the Control Panel visible again.

Computer Tips - Delete Internet History

One important feature of the computer is the Internet history feature, which enables users to retrace the websites they have visited previously. Sometimes it may be important for the user to be able to go back to the previously visited sites and the links are still in the history feature.

However, as the user continues to surf the internet, the history will just pile up until eventually it slows the performance of the computer and makes it sluggish. Therefore knowing how to delete internet history is useful to free up some space on your computer and continue to enjoy a trouble free computing experience with a faster and more effective computer.

Deleting internet history is not difficult to do. Anyone can learn how but first having a key board will be important with Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer.

With all these key elements present, then just double click on the Internet Explorer icon. This is usually present in the start menus of the computer. When you have opened the internet explorer icon look for the tools option and click it. This is usually found on the top left hand of the computer screen. Then a selection of applications will appear in a column. This is where you look for the internet options menu and clicking it will open up a dialog box. Internet explorer 7 and earlier versions will have similar features. From there in the dialog box just click on delete browsing history.

There is a section named browsing history commonly found at the middle part of the column box that appears. Look for the delete button, click it and it will start clearing the history of your visited sites, once that is done, and the rest of options appears. Explorer 7 users will have a dialog box that has several options to choose from what to erase.

To makes sure that all the past visited websites are deleted, it is important to click the button labeled Delete History. A dialog box usually appears after that to double confirm whether you are sure that you wish to delete the history of visited websites. When you click yes, the computer starts deleting and of which you may have to wait a few minutes, depending on the volume of files that has accumulated in your computer.

Obviously, with bigger files, you may have to wait longer. Finally, when it is done just click on the close button and then select the Ok and you can exit. Clearing up the files and deleting them will free up a lot of processing space that can let your computer run more efficiently. In addition, as you delete the internet history in your computer, deleting of the temporary internet files is possible. The more files you delete, the more space you will clear up. This is especially for files that is no longer needed and serves no purpose in your computer.
Deleting files clears up space on Your computer.

Just remember to save your favorite websites or passwords when you use this feature.

Computer ???

A computer is a programmable malchin that receives input, stores and manipulates data/information, and provides output in a useful format.

While a computer can, in theory, be made out of almost anything, and mechanical examples of computers have existed through much of recorded human history, the first electronic computers were developed in the mid-20th century (1940–1945). Originally, they were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers (PCs). Modern computers based on integrated circuits are millions to billions of times more capable than the early machines, and occupy a fraction of the space.

Simple computers are small enough to fit into mobile devices, and can be powered by a small battery. Personal computers in their various forms are icons of the Information Age and are what most people think of as "computers". However, the embedded computers found in many devices from MP3 players to fighter aircraft and from toys to industrial robots are the most numerous.
